We continued to learn about space today. We watched the Earth “float”; we made rockets and we set our rocket mice into space. We had some great ideas in our designs and learned from one another.
We also watched a clip of Chris Hadfield going to his bed on the Space Station. He zipped himself up in a sleeping bag, which was tied to the wall.
Hello! It’s been lovely to see everyone back at school today and hear about all the different adventures that the children have had over the holidays. Mrs Stephenson also showed us some of her wedding pictures. (She was a beautiful bride! ). We have had a quiet day as everyone is still in shock at getting up early and are tired. We are happy to play with our friends again and learn with Mrs Stephenson and Mrs Arbuckle.
The Space Station is now open for flights. Remember to wear your spacesuit and log the jobs you do! Have a good flight! Tell us about your adventures when you return to Earth!
We enjoy reorganising our class and take our lead from the children. We have been looking at the local area, so we have the farm in the tuff tray. We have been talking a lot about space, so we are going to create our very own Space Station in the rôle play corner, so we had to paint the panels. We have also noticed that a lot of our children love to dress up, so we brought in the wardrobe. There have been lots of super heroes appearing to save us!
We used our fine motor skills to cut out spirals. We looked at the properties of spirals and looked at different places that we can see them . Spirals are amazing!
We are as busy as ever in P1.3. Never a day goes by without us learning something new. ( We know that children always say they learned “ nothing” in school!). Miss O’Neil was busy working with children creating a map of the local environment; Mrs Arbuckle was busy helping with making structures in the Tuff Tray; some people were “making” tools with the giant meccano; some people were making pizza for deliveries in our Pizza Hut; some people were looking at Google maps, finding the local area. We have also been to Assembly and gone over our phonics. It’s all go!
We had been inside a lot this week because of the heavy rain, so we took the chance to go outside and enjoy the sunshine for a little while. We had lots of things to play with and we were able to share with each other. It was quite windy and lots of things kept blowing away!
We have new activities this week that the children asked for last week. Our shop is very popular and we are selling lots of different things. They are all real. This is good for learning to use money and for rôle play. Everything we use is real. The hammer beads are good for making patterns. We are learning new words in our Jolly Phonics . The Kapla is always popular for building and being creative and building. We have also been reading this morning.
Mondays are usually exploring days in P1.3. We have new activities in class and we get to explore them. Today we are making the babies for “Mrs Lather’s Laundry”; building with the Kapla; building at the workbench; playing with games and playing in Mrs Lather’s Laundry. We also do our reading on a Monday morning too. No wonder we are exhausted at the end of the day!
