Some of us have been learning to add three numbers. It can be quite tricky. We used our cubes to help us to build stories to make 10.

We had to help the post elves today and sort our all of the Christmas cards. It was quite tricky to do, but we got there!
Merry Christmas!
It’s that time of year. Everybody is tired but we are all super excited about Santa arriving. ( 13 sleeps to go!).
We have a competition going for the most original Potato Head. We have to create a chimney for Santa using our bricks; we can set the table too and eat our Christmas dinner. ( Its very tasty!) Some people are making questionnaires for the class and are going about asking questions. Some people are busy learning sounds on “Nessie” on the computer. Some people are busy with jigsaws and some people are enjoying the soothing effects of the water beads.
All that and we are rehearsing our Nativity! Who said it is quiet in a primary school at this time of year??
Now that the lids have been painted, we had to match the correct lid to the correct jar by comparing sizes. The children were able to do this very quickly !
We were learning all about symmetry. We had to make symmetrical pictures using our loose parts and we went for a walk around the school to see what was symmetrical. It was quite tricky, but we soon became experts.
We learn maths in all different ways. We can use our loose parts to add and we use real money when we learn about money. Here we are adding 1and sorting out money.
Since it was Hallowe’en today, we made some cLculations using the pipettes and “blood”. We felt like scientists. We can now add on one beautifully.
We have come such a long way in P1.3 and we have only been here for 10 weeks! We were talking to the children about all the different things we have learned and they started to suggest more. We also looked at our blog to remember things we had forgotten. We made a big list then Mrs Arbuckle put it onto a “ map”. We were amazed…. and we are still learning!😁😁🎓
We have been building with our 3D shapes. We have looked at cubes, cuboids, pyramids and spheres. We can use our imaginations to build.
It was an opportunity for some problem solving. We learned about ordinal numbers – 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc. We then had to put ourselves in order from smallest to tallest. It was quite a challenge! The photographer had asked us to be in order for our photos. Job done!
( It took us a while!)
