We continued measuring today. This time we were using centimetres to measure. We drew round our shoes and measured the outline. Charleen had the biggest feet with 23cm. Mrs Wheatley measured our height on the door with a metre stick. Charleen is also the tallest person in the class.

Making numbers
We we’re practicing making numbers with pipe cleaners today. It is really good for our concentration, resilience and fine motor skills too.
ASDA – happy to help!
We were all excited to visit ASDA as part of our lessons in developing the young workforce. We had to put on our special jackets first of all, then we had to start to do the shopping. We all got to scan the shopping through and then we had to match coins from the till. We got goody bags to go home with and then we set off walking back to school. It was a great experience. Thank you to Lee at ASDA. ( Remember to wave to her and say hello if you see her,)
Hour of Code
We were continuing to learn about directions in maths today and we used Hour of Code, which teaches us coding. We had to give BB-8 directions to pick up packages. We were very good at programming the blocks.
Codapillars
We were learning about directions today and used the Codapillars. We had to put the different parts on to tell the Codapillars which way to go. We tried to,program them to go from one child to another . It was great fun to do. We got better with practise. It gave us lots of discussion!
Dice calculations
We had a go at creating our own calculations today. We threw dice on the table and added the numbers shown. We were very confident during this activity.
Fractions
We were learning about halves and quarters today and had to fold paper. It was very difficult to do. We learned that two halves must be equal parts and four quarters must be equal. We played fraction games on Education City too.
Calculations
Some of us were busy doing calculations at number time today. We don’t need to always using our cubes -we are getting so good at calculating mentally!
Problem Solving
This week is our problem solving week in Maths. Today, we were completing patterns by drawing the shapes which should come next. We found this a little tricky at first but got better with practise. Mrs Arbuckle added more challenge into this activity by changing the colours of the shapes in the pattern. We needed our thinking hats on 🎩 but we did very well.
All change ( again!)
Every week we ask the children which activities they would like in class. We do our best to put in place their requests. This week the request is for a flower shop, so we shall make our flowers at art to sell this week. It all takes time!
