We continued to learn about space today. We watched the Earth “float”; we made rockets and we set our rocket mice into space. We had some great ideas in our designs and learned from one another.
We also watched a clip of Chris Hadfield going to his bed on the Space Station. He zipped himself up in a sleeping bag, which was tied to the wall.
It is Monday morning which means one thing … P.E! Mr Higgins set up an amazing obstacle course for us and we loved it! We had to crawl under a net, dodge through cones, climb under hurdles and jump off of a tall ramp. A perfect start to set us up for our day ahead
Adrienne came to visit us today. She told us the story of Daniel . We had actions to do as we listened to the story. We were very good at roaring when the lion was mentioned.
We did our Easter Egg Hunt today. We had to find the plastic eggs that were hidden around the P1 playground. We got a sticker when we found one and we got a delicious egg at the end of the day. Yummy!
We continued measuring today. This time we were using centimetres to measure. We drew round our shoes and measured the outline. Charleen had the biggest feet with 23cm. Mrs Wheatley measured our height on the door with a metre stick. Charleen is also the tallest person in the class.
We were using cubes to measure different lengths of wool today. We had to place the cubes beside the different lengths and see the differences. We then developed this by measuring each other.
Our challenge today was to make a basket for the egg to go safely down the zip line. We had to be careful not to break the eggs. We needed a lot of patience and resilience!
We made clucking cups today, looking at the sound that is made from the vibration of the string. ( It sounds like a chicken). They were quite tricky to make cluck, but we soon became experts.
We had a great time this afternoon making these scrumptious Easter nest cakes. We washed our hands in the kitchen, melted chocolate and mixed with cornflakes. We then added our little eggs to finish our cakes off. We discussed food allergies and some of the children used special gluten free cornflakes.
