Mondays are usually exploring days in P1.3. We have new activities in class and we get to explore them. Today we are making the babies for “Mrs Lather’s Laundry”; building with the Kapla; building at the workbench; playing with games and playing in Mrs Lather’s Laundry. We also do our reading on a Monday morning too. No wonder we are exhausted at the end of the day!
We made beautiful mosques with Mrs Hillan in Art. We had to cut the dome shapes on the fold of the paper. We then had to dray and cut out a house shape with a door in it. It took a lot of concentration.
With Mrs Fingland today, we listened to how different instruments add to stories. The xylophone was good for pretending to go up and down stairs. The wood block was good for “tapping on the window”. We had a lot of fun.
We are loving our new set up in the house corner. We have clothes to wash, dry and iron. The children have been working well as a team to get all these troublesome jobs done ☺ If only I had such keen, little helpers at home!
We were learning about halves and quarters today and had to fold paper. It was very difficult to do. We learned that two halves must be equal parts and four quarters must be equal. We played fraction games on Education City too.
Over the past few weeks, Mrs LittleJohn, Mrs Arbuckle and myself have had to take some time off due to being unwell. We are now all back and fighting fit 💪. The children have been very resilient during this time and adapted well to other teachers working with them.
Today we started off our morning with some Jolly Phonics and issued our new homework books. We also have an exciting new addition to our class – iPads ! We have been playing the app King of Maths (junior) which is fantastic for counting, addition and subtraction tasks.
I am so sorry that I can’t be in school this week, but I have been ill in bed with flu since we stopped last week. It’s not much fun. I have been having lots of hot drinks and sleeping a lot. Mr Arbuckle has been looking after me.
I hope that you all had a great holiday and I look forward to hearing about your adventures when I return next week.
Happy New Year to our Chinese friends! We heard the story about all the animals in the Chinese Zodiac story. We are mostly Snakes! We made dragon masks and we got to bang the gong. Some people got a turn at being in the dragon for the dance! We are looking forward to P1.4’s Assembly on Chinese New Year tomorrow.
We had a brilliant Burns House Challenge . Lots of boys and girls performed from the different Houses. Carrie and Charleen represented their Houses and were so good. We were very proud of them.
