We are constantly learning through play. There is so much to learn from in 1.3 and we love to discuss what we are doing. Our teachers ask us what activities we would like in class and they do their best to make it fun!

Calculations with “blood”!
Since it was Hallowe’en today, we made some cLculations using the pipettes and “blood”. We felt like scientists. We can now add on one beautifully.
The sound bag
Today, we had to pick something out of the bag and write it’s sound. We were very good at it
The Potion
We were creating our potions for writing today. First, Miss O’Neil became a witch with her cauldron. She added lots of ingredients to the cauldron. The children asked if Mrs Arbuckle could “drink” the Potion and turn into a frog. After Mrs Arbuckle drank the Potion, she jumped around the room! We all laughed. Miss O’Neil then cast a spell and turned her back into a teacher! We then wrote our own potions.
The Potion Shop
The “Potion Shop” is open for business. Last week, the children were counting sleeps to Hallowe’en . They were so excited. They asked for “ Hallowe’en” activities in class. The one big thing the children wanted was somewhere to “ cast spells and make potions.”
Hey Presto! The Potion Shop was open!
Letter formation
During our Literacy time today, we practised our letter formation. It is important when writing different letters to start these at the correct place. Our work was very neat!
We’ve Come a Long Way!
We have come such a long way in P1.3 and we have only been here for 10 weeks! We were talking to the children about all the different things we have learned and they started to suggest more. We also looked at our blog to remember things we had forgotten. We made a big list then Mrs Arbuckle put it onto a “ map”. We were amazed…. and we are still learning!😁😁🎓
Mud Kitchen
We had fun in the mud kitchen in the Nursery playground. Lots of people made Mrs Arbuckle some delicious “food”. Some people made potions and cast spells. Some people chose to sit down at the table and make and “eat” their food. Delicious! 😁🍽
Hallowe’en Hair House Challenge
It was lovely to see so many children with hallowe’en hair today. The children joined the parade in the Street. Dylan R won the prize for best Primary 1 and earned 200 points for Poplar.
A big Welcome to Mrs Miller
We welcome Mrs Miller to P1.3. She will be working with us for the next few weeks. Mrs Miller is a secondary school teacher and is training to be a primary teacher. She has been a great help in our class.
