Scientific Investigation.

We have been learning about the Scottish bacteriologist Sir Alexander Fleming (1881-1955) and his discovery of Penicillin from mould in 1928. This led to the development of the world’s first antibiotic substance. He won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1945. Inspired by this, we have decided to create our own scientific experiment to investigate if we can successfully grow mould from different food types such as; oranges, bread and lemons.

Setting up our experiment.

Writing down our predictions.

Practical Homework

Today we totaled and drew a graph together about all of the activities complete for Practical Homework. The children have learnt so many new skills and (I hope) have been a great help at home with some of them. Thank you for your support and I hope you enjoyed making cakes and being tucked into bed too :).
