Burns Day

We celebrated the life and works of Robert Burns with four different master classes.

Mrs Arbuckle told us about his life and we learned about “Tam O’ Shanter”.  It was quite scary.  Erin P had visited Burns Cottage and showed us some information about it .We also had a class Burns Supper, with oatcakes and cheese and blackcurrant juice.  We said “The Selkirk Grace before we started.  We finished with “Auld Lang Syne”.

We listened to “My Love Is Like A Red, Red Rose” with Mr Hendry and made beautiful roses.

With Mrs Provan, we learned about the music of “Ye Jacobites By Name” and “Charlie Is My Darling” and kept the beat of the music with instruments.  We also learned some Scottish dancing.

Finally, with Mrs Adamson, we learned about Scots words and wrote our own class poem – “The Muckle Coo”.

We had a brilliant day!

It’s Snowing!!!

After a few days of being kept in class for playtime and lunchtime, we were getting cabin fever.  It was not good.  Every time it snowed ( around every 15minutes), someone cried out “IT’S SNOWING!!”   We decided to go out and build snowmen and use up our energy and get it out of our system.  We had a lot of fun and we all worked together.

Our Scottish Culture Assembly

We finally did it!  We said our lines beautifully; the dancers remembered what to do and we remembered our song words and actions.  Phew!!  Well done 2.5!

Mrs Arbuckle forgot to take lots of photos – oops! – but you can look at lots of photos and video clips on the school Twitter page.

Thank you to all the mums, dads, grannies, grandpas, aunties and friends who came along to support us.
