We made these wonderful shape monsters today using squares, rectangles, circles, triangles and semi-circles. Mrs Kelly gave us a list of items our monster had to have and we used hole punches and scissors, rulers and plastic shapes to make these fabulous monsters.
Later we described our monsters in our jotters.
We have been outside this week using sticks and stones to help with our understanding of numbers. We used sticks for tens and stones for units and it helped us add some big numbers together !
We’ve been having a marvellous week this week thinking about maths and how we use it every day.
We were really lucky to have Mrs Jamil in visiting us today and talking about her career as an engineer. We learned a lot about what she does and how she uses maths every day. There were lots of questions and we are really grateful to Mrs Jamil for giving her time to share with us the importance of maths in her career.
This afternoon we replanted some herbs into new pots. Mrs Gordon has a plant theatre to display them in, in our school garden.
We had to put some compost into the bottom of the pots. Then we placed the plants inside the pot. We had to be careful that we didn’t damage the roots.
Next we put more compost into the pots and then watered the plants as they looked very thirsty.
Today we had our One Planet Picnic. We were all able to sit outside on the grass with our picnic blankets and our teddy bears. It was great fun.
We were thinking about and trying to raise awareness of using local produce grown in Scotland as well as highlighting how much food we waste and how much rubbish we collect.
