Transport

This term we are looking at different types of transport and also exploring technology. To combine the two Ms Galt and Mrs Sobocinski issued a challenge to the class to design and create their own vehicle using their own choice of materials.

There were so many creative creative ideas from pirate ships to space rockets with everything in between!

Fruit Wands

In Technology today we worked with Mrs Gordon to design fruit wands. First we had to read and think about the design brief:

We had to create a fruit wand that contained ten pieces of fruit in a pattern, including a watermelon star at the end. There was a lot of fruit to choose from including apple, banana, strawberries, pineapple and grapes.

We created a plan of our fruit kebabs:

Then we learned all about the safe use of knives and how to chop fruit carefully. Before we were given our fruit we took time to wash our hands carefully.

Then the chopping of the fruit began!

Next we threaded the fruit onto our kebab sticks to create our fruit patterns.

We were delighted with our finished fruit wands.

Finally we had the chance to eat them!

World Book Day

Today we are celebrating World Book Day and lots of us came in dressed as our favourite book character.

Even our teachers came dressed as their favourite characters, who could be hiding under this hood?

We had a selection of different characters including superheroes, fairy tale characters, dinosaurs and many others.

Geoboards

We have continued today to explore 2D shapes and we spent time making shapes on an online geoboard before taking our own bands and boards and creating our own personal shape pictures.

Then we played two games on Education City. In the first we had to choose which 2D shape matched the description and the second where we had to identify 2D shapes that had been cut in half.
