The Pet Shop

We have been learning about all the different coins and notes that make up the currency in the UK. To help us practice our money using skills we have set up a class pet shop. Today we started to make prices for the different items and began our shopping!

Over the next few weeks we will be shopping there often.

Shape Hunting

Today some of us went on a shape hunt, we were searching for different 2D shapes around the school. Here are some of the ones we found:

Then we used 2D shapes to create pictures of our own:

The next thing that we are going to do is to explore different patterns that you can make using 2D shapes.

Magic Maths

Today one group was working on developing their numeracy. They played lots of different games to help them improve their counting and calculation skills.

Another group was exploring how to sort different food groups

The final group were practicing their addition and subtraction skills using Sumdog on the I-pads.

We enjoy learning in fun and exciting ways!

Marvellous Monet

Over the last few weeks we have been exploring the artist Monet. This week we used oil pastels and paper to create our own version of one of his lily pond pieces of work.

First we coloured in the background dark blue.

Then we added some light blue over the top.

Finally to complete the look of the water we added some swirls of white.

To make our pictures complete we cut out lily pads and added some pink flowers to them.

We look forward to you seeing our work displayed on parents night.

Judo

We were lucky today to have a session with a Judo instructor.

First we had to take off our shoes and socks and he talked us through how to keep safe during the session.

Then we played a few games to warm up.

When we were warmed up he asked for some volunteers to demonstrate some Judo moves!

Next we worked in pairs to try some of the floor work.

Finally we finished off with some different games.

Here is what some of us thought about the session:

Calum:  I liked it because it was fun and I got to play and I like Judo!

Anushka: It was good because I was good at the different moves.

Millie: I liked the instructor letting me demonstrate the throws.

Areeb: It was great fun, I liked the games at the end!

Maybe some of us will go on to learn more about Judo in the future.
