Mile for Malawi

Today we wore our sportswear as we all ran a mile to raise money for Malawi.  The whole school took part and we hope that we raised lots of money for Malawi.

Here are some photographs of our day!

Adrienne shared a story with us from the New Testament.  It was the story of Zacchaeuse.  Zacchaeuse was a man who wanted to see Jesus but he couldn’t see him through the crowd so he climbed a tree.  Jesus came to Zacchaeuse and spoke to him and had dinner at his house.

During Maths time we used the ipads to practise skills that we have been learning during maths time.

We practised our language skills by taking part in a range of activities.  All of the activities let us practise our spelling, writing and sounds.

This afternoon we worked together outside playing in the sunshine.  Using some of the equipment required team work, we problem solved with the construction equipment and shapes.

We were also investigating different types of plants.  We discussed what they need to grow and how amazing plants are.

Rugby

We have been taking part in Rugby sessions as part of our P.E.  We need to be able to pass the big rugby balls to our team mates.  Sometimes we need to run with the ball, looking out for spaces. This has included races, games and small rugby matches.  It has been great fun!

Farmer Visit

Yesterday we had a visit from a farmer as part of our topic.   Her name was Catriona.  Catriona came to tell us all about being a farmer.  She answered lots of our questions and showed us some of the things that she needs to use to help her look after the animals.

Catriona even brought two little lambs.  The lambs were two weeks old. We were able to see them having their lunch, a yummy bottle of milk.  Catriona has cows and sheep on her farm as well as two horses.  We were able to see photographs of the animals and of the tractors and other vehicles that she uses.

Language Time

This morning as part of our language time, we chose different language activities, tasks and games to complete.  Some of us played language board games, others used the computer to play language games on Nessy.  The Garden Centre was open and some children bought and sold seeds and vegetables.

Bible Stories with Adrienne

Today Adrienne from Newton Mearns Baptist Church came and told us the story of Daniel and the Lions Den.  The story is from the Old Testament in the Bible.  Adrienne read us the story while we joined in with some actions.  We then had to put parts of the story in order.  It was quite tricky but we managed to order the story altogether.
