What an interesting morning we had outside collecting information for our senses poem. It is amazing what you see, hear, smell and feel when you take some quiet time to concentrate. We decided it was best not to taste anything though!

Today we focused on how we taste food. We learned that we have around 10000 taste buds that are replaced every two weeks. These taste buds send messages to our brain to tell it if something is sweet, salty, spicy, bitter or sour. The other important thing we learned was that when chew our food, chemicals are created that send signals to the back of our noses and then receptors there send messages to our brain to give it even more information about the flavour of the food we are eating. Who knew that without our noses we would have no flavour in our life!
What a wonderful day we had outside creating our own worlds, telling each other about them and then writing fabulous stories.
We were so lucky to have Freya and Anna give us a presentation on the really interesting lunar rocks we have on loan in the school just now. We got to touch lots of them, but some were in display cases so we looked only….these ones are priceless!
We are loving practising our songs and actions with p1.4
