December has arrived very quickly and it will soon be holiday time. š However, we donāt stop. We continue to learn and do our best every day. Ā December is an extremely busy time of year in Primary schools with pantos, parties, Ā rehearsals for school pantos and church services. Ā This means our timetable is often changed at a moments notice and we have to be very flexible. Our apologies in advance.
We have already noticed that the children are becoming more tired as we head towards the holidays and we take this into account in the planning of our lessons. Ā Itās dark outside, itās cold and there are only so many sleeps till a certain someone arrives. Ā The excitement will build.
The scene was set and Katie didnāt know! Ā Mrs Mo Ā ( Katieās Mum) was our Mystery Reader today. Ā It was lovely to welcome a parent in to our class and share reading. Ā Mrs Mo read one of our favourite books, āThe Tiger Who Came To Teaā by Judith Kerr. Ā Thank you for taking time out of your busy day, Mrs Mo.
If you would like to be our Mystery Reader on a Friday at 12, put a note in the Diary and we will be in touch. December is full, but we can take bookings for January and February. …. but remember to keep it under your hat. Ā š¤
Oh the excitement! Ā The big day had finally arrived! We had our snacks and juice in our pockets Ā and we were off on the bus to see āSingā.
We had the whole cinema to ourselves and settled down in our seats. Ā The film was really good and the music was great. Ā ( Some people even sang some of the songs on the bus home. Ā They know who they are. Ā š)
One of children made us laugh as they explained that when they are a bit naughty, Mummy calls them by their ” naughty name”. Ā This is usually your whole name. Ā ( Sometimes it includes a middle name too!) Ā So many children knew exactly what it was! Ā Mrs Arbuckle is still called her naughty name by her Mummy and Daddy!
We read the story Hansel and Gretel in class. Ā We then took part in different activities from the story. Ā The first activity was to design a sweetie house! We had to use ALL of the sweeties for the house!
At our investigation table we had to make a path for Hansel and Gretel so that they could find the sweetie house. Ā We used wool and gems to show which way to go. Ā We also decorated the sweetie house with colourful stones and gems. Ā They were all different as we chose different colours and stones for our houses.
We looked at how babies are welcomed in a Hindu Family. Ā We also looked at some of the photos that some children have brought in to class. Please bring in a baby photo. We will return them when our topic is finished. š
We learn maths in many different ways. Ā Sometimes, we listen to instructions; some days we cut and stick and some days, we play. Ā Whatever we do, we always have fun learning.
