Primary 1.4 have been learning about collecting data. We went on a bird hunt and used tally marks to record the birds that we saw. In the outdoor classroom we counted up our tally marks and gave each bird a total. We discovered that the most common bird were blackbirds. We are going to use our data to create pictograms. We had great fun learning outdoors!
It has been a busy few weeks in 1.4 with lots of exciting new learning experiences as our classroom is forever changing! Have a look and see what we have been up to.
Using containers, natural materials and a pan balance in the sand pit
Drawing some fantastic birds for our park area
Building and fixing
Counting using the interactive whiteboard
Feeding the birds in he school Eco Garden
Here we are making bird feeders for the Eco Garden
We are always on the go in 1.4. Even during early entry, 1.4 are wide awake, busy writing words we already know, tricky words and attempting to write new words to make our sentences more exciting! Watch this space!
Our Ceilidh dancing is coming along nicely. Now we know the whole routine, we just need a little more practise before we perform in front of an audience. Dancing experts, Peter and Frank, said we were better than the Primary 7s!
Mrs Geary ( aka Robert’s mum) came in to visit us this morning. She told us all about Chinese New Year. It was amazing. She taught us how to write “Happy New Year” in Mandarin and we all got to try the chopsticks. They were great fun! ( we loved them so much that we are using them to pick up the water beads in the tuff tray)
Mrs Geary told us all about why there are animals for every year. We are mostly snakes and dragons in 1.4. Mrs Hamilton knew her entire family!
Mrs Geary has given us all red envelopes and chopsticks to take home. That was very kind of her. We have learned so much today. Thank you, Mrs Geary.
We have some new activities in 1.4 this week. There have been lots of construction discussion in the Duplo pit; Blast off continuously happens in the Space Station; there has been lots of concentration at the hammer beads and the dressing up box has provided lots of role play and much hilarity.
We had so much fun at the party. We were all dressed up and good to go. We wore the crowns that we had made a few weeks ago. We played lots of games and danced to the music. Then it was time to go for crisps and drinks and Santa came in to see us. We were very excited. Santa left us presents too. Thank you, Santa!
Thank you to everyone who took time out to come along to our Christmas Fayre. Lots of our decorations were sold, but we still have some left. If you were unable to come along, you can still buy them. A bargain at £2!
