Maths Week

We had a great week celebrating Maths week. We created posters about our knowledge in Numeracy and Maths and had fun presenting them to the class.

We were very lucky to have Mr Johnstone visit us who spoke to us about two careers – his career as a scientist and his career as an accountant. He showed us some fantastic pictures of crystals and we took part in a survey about our favourite flavour of drink. Mr Johnstone displayed the results of our survey in a graph and that was really interesting. We are looking forward to learning more about graphs soon.

We were also very lucky to have Mr Beaton visit us who spoke to us about his career as a building surveyor. He spoke to us about the role of Maths in his job and he told us about some of the interesting projects he has been involved in making – a swimming pool, an ice rink, a mansion and more. He brought some fantastic resources we had the opportunity of exploring and we applied our Maths skills to answer a few calculations.

Thank you very much to both Mr Johnstone and Mr Beaton for visiting us in P2.6

Scavenger Hunt

In Science, we have been learning to distingish between living and non-living things. As part of our learning, we decided to go on a scavenger hunt. Our super science technicians from P7, Ruby and Kara accompanied us in our walk to the eco garden followed by the woods. We took the petri dishes with us to take our findings back into class and looked at them under a microscope. Looking at them so closely was interesting. At the end we made sure our bugs were put back in the eco garden safely.
