The lovely Adrienne came in to tell us all about the Bible and the many stories that it has in it. There are some really good stories. Today she told us about Joshua and the Walls of Jericho.
As she read the story, when she said “march”, we had to do it. When she said “round” , we had to draw circles in the air and when she said “Joshua”, we had to salute. It was a really good story.
We have continued our contstruction and developed it into becoming engineers. We have lots of tubes, ramps, balls and cars and we have made lots of structures. Some made rollercoasters; some made roads; some made bridges. we used our imagination.
The space station landed in 1.3 on Monday. We have been looking at space in class. Space is so cool and there is so much to learn. We looked at constellations and watched the clips of Chris Hadfield on the Space Station and all the cool experiments that he did on the International Space Station.
Primary 6’s told us all about meteorites and we got to touch them. It was amazing to think that we were holding something that had been in space. Some were also magnetic and we tested them with a magnet.
In class, during the week, Mrs Arbuckle had shown us a clip of a meteorite falling to Earth. We then pretended that a large bottle of paint was the meteor falling from Space and we landed it in the sandpit. It made giant craters, which is what happens with real meteors.
I am so sorry that I haven’t been with you over the last week. I had tonsillitis last week and felt very poorly. Unfortunately the many different tablets that the doctor gave me, made me even more ill and I am still in bed. It is not fun.
I have been hearing all about you from my many teacher friends and have been able to text them activities for you to do.
I hope that you have a lovely holiday and I look forward to seeing you when we return.
We are aways learning through play in 1.3. They conversations and discussions are amazing to hear. The children discover and learn so much through trying new activities or just being creative.
We made our caterpillar shadow puppets using circles and ” springs” and then decorated them. It was a bit tricky, but we got there! We also looked at the life of caterpillars. They were amazing as they walked about, munching on leaves and then spun their cocoons to come out as beautiful butterflies.
Wow! It was an amazing night. Hundreds of people came along to see and take part in all our different activities. The buzz around the school was brilliant. Primary 1’s also showcased their work too. Thank you to Mr Tyler and Mrs MacGregor for leading us.
We have been learning about insects and the jobs that they have to do to help the environment. We looked at bees and discovered their amazing world. We watched a clip about them on TigTag Junior and learned about the hive and how bees collect pollen from flowers.
Bees are friendly little creatures. 🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝🐝
