We finally did it. We have completed Primary One and look forward to Primary 2 in August. Thank you to all the mums, dads, grannies , grandpas and friends who have supported P1.3 over the last year. It makes our job much smoother and makes certain that the children are happy and settled in school.
Wow! What a day! It was warm and not too sunny and we went to the stalls, the bouncy castle, we had an ice lolly and water and we watched a Show. It was amazing!
The Finals of our Talent Show were held today. What a talented school we have – even the teachers sang ! Some children sang, some danced and some did magic. They were brilliant!
The sun shone and Mrs Arbuckle had an excuse to wear a frock and a tiara. We couldn’t have had a better day for our Royal Wedding Party fun. We danced; we made flower bouquets and wrote our wedding invitations; we played party games and ate and drank. Thank you to all of our parents who dressed the children in their wedding clothes. ( Mrs Arbuckle hid the felt pens and glue to avoid any disasters. ! 😁👍)
I am so sorry that I haven’t been with you over the last week. I had tonsillitis last week and felt very poorly. Unfortunately the many different tablets that the doctor gave me, made me even more ill and I am still in bed. It is not fun.
I have been hearing all about you from my many teacher friends and have been able to text them activities for you to do.
I hope that you have a lovely holiday and I look forward to seeing you when we return.
The SSPCA visited P1-3 today and told us all about caring for animals. We learned that too much food is as bad as not enough food. We learned chocolate, grapes and raisins are poisonous to dogs. We need to brush their coats and cut their nails. Our pets need toys to play with to stop them getting bored. If our pets are ill, we have to take them to see the vet. Rescue Centres are good places to get new pets. They gave us a rubber and pencil at the end of their talk.
It was a busy first day. It was important to keep the children in their normal routine to ensure a seamless transition. Some children were adding in maths; some were discovering all about right angles and some were learning about volume using the water beads. We read our new reading books and asked lots of questions. We also learn continuously through play.
Hello! It’s lovely to meet you! I’m Mrs Arbuckle and I will be with P1.3 til the summer. I have been working in P1.4 , so I am very familiar with how P1 works. Primary One at Mearns is a team effort with all the staff. I am also a very experienced teacher ( I have a lot of experience in P1 and I also taught the dinosaurs!!) I have taught in many different schools. This is my fifth year at Mearns. I am looking forward to working with the children in P1.3.
I enjoy using the class blog to share with you what goes on in class and you can see what and how your child learns. ( Ask them at home, and they usually say “Nothing!”)
We had a visit from Adrienne from the Baptist church.
She talked to us about the Christmas story that we find in the Bible.
Yesterday we were very excited about preforming our Little Donkey song at our whole school Christmas assembly. We were really happy to see some of our parents too!
