Sports Day

We had been practising for weeks and the big day finally arrived- Sports Day 2018!   It didn’t rain ( amazing!) and nobody fell ( even more amazing!) .  A great time was had by all.  Well done to the winners and a big thank you to the parents , grannies, grandpas and family friends who were able to come along and cheer on the children.

Playing together in the sun

We took the opportunity today to take our learning outdoors. We changed in to our PE clothes to be cooler.   It was very warm, so we took our water bottles with us.  We practised the hurdles for sports day; played circle games and did some roly-polys down the hill ( you have to when you’re in P1!) .  We were exhausted.

Playing in the sunshine

It doesn’t happen very often, but the sun shone and it was really warm.  We had been practicing for our show with Primary 2 and 3 and had been sitting for a very long time.  There was nothing else for it- we had to go out and run about in the sunshine on the adventure playground.  It made  us very thirsty, so we got a big drink from our water bottles when we went back indoors.

Clean Hands

We had a visit from an environmental specialist who talked to us about clean hands and the importance of washing them properly.  We had to use a special gel and then put our hands under the blue light to see the germs.  We then washed our hands and put them back under the blue light to see if they were clean.

Boots Opticians

We had a visit from Boots Opticians today.  They had the most amazing job.  They showed us how eyes work and the different lenses that people have.  They should us tests to see if people were colourblind and how they conduct eye checks for children.  They read a special book, that helps them to detect eye problems.  We also got to try on glasses without any lenses. It was cool.
