Clean Hands

We had a visit from an environmental specialist who talked to us about clean hands and the importance of washing them properly.  We had to use a special gel and then put our hands under the blue light to see the germs.  We then washed our hands and put them back under the blue light to see if they were clean.

VR Headsets

Mrs  MacGregor showed us how to use the VR headsets.  They were so cool. We looked at the Earth from the Moon; We saw the Sun;  we looked at New York and Dubai; we saw giraffes and lions ; we saw reindeer  in the arctic and a rocket launch. We could look at everything in in the most amazing detail.

We could look to the left, right, up and down and when we tilted our heads, we saw all around. It was amazing!

Builders At Work!

We learned about building structures today.  We discovered the role of an architect and made floor plans for our structure.  Some children mentioned that is what is happening in their house for their extensions.

We then moved on to build our structures.  We had a variety of materials to use and had to decide which was best.  There was a lot of discussion.  We decided bricks were best, as they were strong and wouldn’t blow down.

Coding

We learned about computer science today with “Hour of Code”. We had to create a program to enable BB-8 to complete tasks.  We move the blocks to give him the “code” to move. Some of us got to level 6!

Mr Tyler, The Amazing Scientist

Mr Tyler is a fantastic P6 teacher and is an expert scientist.  He is utterly brilliant.  He came in today to show us lots of science experiments  and it was amazing.

We looked at static electricity,; magnetism; chemical reactions; Hydrogel; sound and infra red.  We were very impressed.  He makes science look easy and inspired us to try it at home.  Mrs Arbuckle looks forward to hearing all about them. 😁

A Visit from Adrienne

Our lovely minister, Adrienne, came to visit us to tell us stories about Jesus.  We never knew that there is not a lot in the Bible about Jesus as a boy, but their are lots of stories about him as a man.

She told us the story of Easter.  It is such a good story.

Boots Opticians

We had a visit from Boots Opticians today.  They had the most amazing job.  They showed us how eyes work and the different lenses that people have.  They should us tests to see if people were colourblind and how they conduct eye checks for children.  They read a special book, that helps them to detect eye problems.  We also got to try on glasses without any lenses. It was cool.
