The National Deaf Children\u2019s society has published lots of information on how professionals can support pupils who may have a temporary or permanent hearing loss. For example:<\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>Ensure that communication is clear and effective.<\/b><br \/>\nFor example: make sure that you have the child\u2019s attention before you start talking, speak clearly and at your normal level and pace and make sure that the child can see your face clearly.<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>Reduce background noise as much as possible.<\/b><br \/>\nFor example, close doors and windows if there is any noise outside.<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>Seek advice from a specialist.<\/b><br \/>\nA Teacher of the Deaf from East Renfrewshire\u2019s Sensory Support Service will be able to provide you with more information and advice.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The NDCS website also has more\u00a0<a title=\"Information for professionals\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ndcs.org.uk\/information-and-support\/being-deaf-friendly\/information-for-professionals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">information and advice on supporting children with a hearing loss<\/a>.
