Measure

When we were out in the woods today we compared the size and length of sticks and leaves that we found on our adventure.  We also looked at the height of the trees “some go all the way to the sky!”

On our way to Mearns Woods we visited The Spark Park.  We spotted some new signs that we hadn’t seen before.

We all had a great time!

A Plea

Good afternoon everyone!  Mrs James here!  I have just popped on to kindly make a little request – a plea!

Could you all please have a wee chat with your child about looking after the resources, toys and areas within the nursery.

We are so lucky to have the resources that we currently have to enjoy and to use to help us learn but sadly resources are being broken or lost.

Our Nursery team spend a huge amount of time creating a beautiful environment for us all to learn and work in.  They even spend their weekends looking for resources and toys that will enhance the learning experiences provided for the children and it is very disheartening to see their good work being undone.

I am a mum of four and I have to have this conversation with my own children about looking after their belongings often,  so I hope you understand the message that I am trying to send 🙂

Pitch Play

This morning we had a great time playing listening games on the pitch.  We sang songs and rhymes as we travelled and completed part of the “Daily Mile”!

Our cheeks were rosy and Mrs James enjoyed hearing all the giggles and chatter!

On our way back to the nursery we played number games and looked at how the trees have changed colour!

An Afternoon Stroll

This afternoon some of us took a stroll to the school tranquility garden.  We had a great time looking for bugs, checking out the plants and we even found a fairy door!  As we passed by the Kitchen garden we chatted about what might grow there and what it might be used for.  Some thought that the vegetables might be used in the kitchen.

“Look a wiggly tree!”

During our time in the woods yesterday we came across an interesting tree.  One child pointed out that it was wiggling!

What do you think?

We put on our thinking caps again and shared our ideas on how the tree became a wiggly tree.  Some thought that someone had sat on it, others that it got squashed by a monster!

The tree then grew nice and straight up to the sky!

Outdoors!

We have been enjoying the dry days outside in the nursery garden, the Transport Hub and the Woods!  We love going on adventures with our friends.

Not only do we play with our friends but we sing songs as we travel and hear stories in the wood and count things that we see on the way.   We even pretended to go on holiday to Dubai.
