Shoe boxes and beach photos!

Well, we all survived the first week back of the New Year.  It was lovely to see lots of familiar faces and a few new ones too.

Two things…Mrs Macdonald is looking for shoe boxes for a little project that she is planning.  If you have any, she would be delighted if you could hand them in.

Secondly, I am looking for photos of the children enjoying themselves at the beach.  Can I say that they do not need to be hot sunny beaches but they could show the children enjoying themselves in their wellies and puddle suits too.

For example….

This is to show that we can enjoy the beach in all seasons! I am then going to add them to our world map that is on the wall beside our fantastic indoor sandpit.

Thank you!

Stickman

Today we were busy in all areas of the nursery but there was a certain buzz around the creative area and the woodwork area.  Following some chat about Stickman the children made their own Stickmen by using sticks that had been collected.

We used peelers to whittle and make the sticks smooth.  Next we used wool and wound it around the sticks to make clothes for our characters.  This helps to develop our fine motor skills.

Check them out!

Can you help?

We are looking for an instant camera that the children could use to snap photos of their creative buildings, to record their achievements     With Christmas clear outs happening, if you come across one that is no longer being used, we would be grateful to receive. Thanks. 💛

Marvellous Maps

This week we have created our own maps as part of our Mearns Masters Coders Pathway.  We had to decide where we were travelling from and where we were travelling to and show this to our friends.

Using the direction cards we showed which way we would go on our journey.  Some were keen to go shopping at Silverburn but couldn’t find a parking space.  Others wanted to go to the sweetie shop!

We had fun playing with the toy cars on our maps and pretending to go on journeys using direction words.

Patterns in the Woods

Yesterday some of us enjoyed a stroll in the woods.  We all hopped on our ‘Walking Bus’ and made our way across the playground.  It was lovely to see the Autumn colours on a bright November morning.

We were on the look out for patterns.  We found leaves with lines, the fences with squares and lots of sticks and stones that we could make patterns with.

On our return to the nursery garden we used some of the leaves and sticks that we had collected to make patterns and pictures.  We also belted out the ‘Wheels on the Bus’ song as we crossed the playground.  Have a look!
