Monthly Archives: November 2022
What a beautiful Monday morning!
This week we will have lots of Pudsey Bear activities, following the children’s interests and raising awareness of Children In Need. We are completing Christmas cards which will be available to order and buy – so watch out for that and we will continue with the Mearns Nursery hairdressers!

Measuring – How many? How tall are you?
We have been using cubes, blocks, 2D shapes and sticks to measure how tall we are as well as how tall some objects are around the nursery.
Our Volcano
One of the children had seen a video about a volcano and with his friends they decided to build their own. The project took several days of planning, building and painting, and today the volcano erupted with great excitement!

Musicality
We had musicality in the gym today. We had to listen to the different tempos of music to move around as either a butterfly or a monster! We also had to use good listening to know when to dance and when to freeze!
Rhyme and Story of the week
This week we will be focusing on the nursery rhyme’Two Little Dickie Birds’ and stories from the author Nick Butterworth – ‘Percy the Park Keeper’. We hope the children will share these with you!
Terrific Thursday
Number sequencing, design and bui, ding and a ‘firework’ themed gym session rounded up by some cheerleading! What a busy day we have had!
Counting in the Woods
Yesterday we hiked over to the woods at the side of the pitch. On our way to the woods we talked about the story “Going on a Bear Hunt.” We didn’t find any this time.
While we were in the woods we counted leaves on little branches and we also made wands. We found sticks, counted 10 leaves and added them to our magic stick wands.
Before we left the woods we sang some songs including “Rain, rain go away” as the rain had started to fall.
