When they are arranged in order, as in the picture below, children can easily see connections between numbers, such as \u2018one more\u2019 or \u2018one less\u2019.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.oxfordowl.co.uk\/2019\/08\/23\/08\/41\/17\/d7dab70b-505c-4219-8e1e-b3b6558fc23c\/NumiconNumbers.png\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In class, we were using our Numicon sets to look at numbers before (1 less than), and numbers after (1 more than).
