Class Representatives

Some of the children in our class wanted to put themselves forward to be Class Representatives for our various councils. Here are some of us giving presentations to the class about why each person thought that they should be our rep. There were some very persuasive presentations and everyone listened beautifully. Afterwards, we all voted for the person we thought would do the job best for us this year. The results will be announced by Mrs Gordon at an assembly over the next few weeks. We also spoke about Growth Mindset and how if we are not successful this year, we should remember that we all did our very best, and can try again next year!

A busy start to P2!

We have had a very busy start to P2! During our first few weeks, we have spent some time really getting to know each other, having come together from 1.1 and 1.4 last year – lots of new friends to meet!

We have been playing turn taking games together, discussing what our Class Rules should be, thinking about our rights, sharing what makes a good friend, working on our maths and language skills, discovering new flavours and developing our cutting skills in Mearns Masters, developing our play skills, working on focus and concentration…the list is endless!

Here are just a few pics of us over the past few weeks to give a flavour of what we have been up to…

Values Day & MPS Talent Show

The boys and girls had a fantastic time on Values Day.  There was a silent disco, bouncy castles and we got to eat yummy (and messy!) cupcakes.

1.4 was also so proud to have been given an award at the achievements assembly for the support we have shown our peers throughout the year. We are such a nurturing class and have been so kind to one another. Mrs Hamilton and I are so proud!

Kaydance was also selected to represent p1 in the school talent show and she did a fantastic job. We were blown away by her beautiful singing voice 🙂

Space Stations

We have decided to turn our home corner into a Space Station or Mission Control! We came up with questions about space and what we’d like to learn about. We had a look at how Astronauts float in space and how they brush their teeth, sleep, wash their hair, be sick without making a mess, exercise and make sandwiches! We then drew designs of our own space stations and created them using our construction pieces and loose parts! They looked pretty fantastic! Mrs Donnelly was very impressed with our efforts.

Hockey

During our outdoor P.E time, we are now focusing on hockey. Today our main aim was to hold the hockey stick correctly. Next week we will further develop our skills in moving with a ball. By the end of the lesson today we were very tired so spent 5 minutes having a little rest (some of us even lay down) in the glorious sunshine!
