Spark Park Fundraising Fun Day

2.7 had a brilliant day on Tuesday this week, when we had our ‘Sponsored Stations’ morning on the pitch, followed by a fantastic panto – “Sleeping Beauty”. The children enjoyed every minute of our Fun Day. Here are some photos so that you can see what we got up to! We also spent a bit of time talking about Road Safety on dark mornings and evenings – especially important because so many of us are going out guising for Hallowe’en next week! We enjoyed the story ‘Ziggy’s Hallowe’en Wish’ from Road Safety Scotland too.

Mearns Masters

To showcase all of the cooking skills that we are now proficient in, we made quesadillas this week. This involved using the claw grip for cutting peppers and spring onions, the bridge hold for cutting tomatoes, and grating for our cheese. We prepared and chose our ingredients, then popped them onto half a tortilla wrap, ready to be cooked by Mrs Connolly. They were a triumph!

Remembering Queen Elizabeth II

We had a whole school assembly this week to mark the death of Queen Elizabeth II. Mrs Gordon led the assembly, full of memories from Staff and children. We watched the little clip of the day that the Queen met Paddington!

In the afternoon, Jan in the kitchen organised a cucumber and cream cheese sandwich and a shortbread biscuit for everyone in the school. These were some of the Queen’s favourites. It was delicious!

Class Representatives

Some of the children in our class wanted to put themselves forward to be Class Representatives for our various councils. Here are some of us giving presentations to the class about why each person thought that they should be our rep. There were some very persuasive presentations and everyone listened beautifully. Afterwards, we all voted for the person we thought would do the job best for us this year. The results will be announced by Mrs Gordon at an assembly over the next few weeks. We also spoke about Growth Mindset and how if we are not successful this year, we should remember that we all did our very best, and can try again next year!

A busy start to P2!

We have had a very busy start to P2! During our first few weeks, we have spent some time really getting to know each other, having come together from 1.1 and 1.4 last year – lots of new friends to meet!

We have been playing turn taking games together, discussing what our Class Rules should be, thinking about our rights, sharing what makes a good friend, working on our maths and language skills, discovering new flavours and developing our cutting skills in Mearns Masters, developing our play skills, working on focus and concentration…the list is endless!

Here are just a few pics of us over the past few weeks to give a flavour of what we have been up to…
