Phonics and maths

Primary 1.2 have been working hard on their phonics and maths over the past couple of weeks.

We enjoyed making grapes for the ‘g’ sound and practicing formation.

We had lots of fun learning about 3D shapes and doing a shape hunt around the classroom.  During play, the children decided to use 3D blocks to make buildings.

Well done on all your hard work 1.2!

French

Primary 1.2 have been learning all about France and have even learned how to speak some French. We learned how to say hello and how to tell someone what our name is. We enjoyed making French flags with our handprints.

Très bien!

Mearns Masters Designers

This week we designed bridges for the ‘Three Billy Goats Gruff.’ We used our own initiative to choose which materials would be most suitable for our bridge. We then tested them using our goats to see if it was sturdy enough for them to pass.

Well done p1.2!

Jolly Phonics

This week we have enjoyed being creative when learning our sounds. We practiced forming the letters, identified things beginning with the sound and sang our jolly phonics song. We created caterpillars for our ‘c’ sound and houses for our ‘h’ sound using different shapes and materials😊 .

Designers

Today p1.2 were designers! We listened to the Goldilocks and the Three Bears story and did some role playing to re-enact each part. We found out that Goldilocks dropped and smashed daddy bears bowl so we made him a new one so he could eat his porridge. We decided that clay would be the best material to use for this design.

Well done primary 1!
