Stem Week – Growth

We have loved learning lots about STEM this week with our focus on growth.

We measured ourselves and ordered the whole class from shortest to tallest as well as youngest to oldest to compare our height with our age.

We made our own Greenhouses where we planted three seeds each.  We have put them onto our class window to watch them grow. We predicted what our seeds would need to grow and we have experimented with extra greenhouses to test our predictions.

We have also enjoyed creating our own journals to track the progress of the seeds.

In this activity we looked at our partners head and shoulders and
sketched a portrait of them. We tried this once and looked at our work. We noticed some of the drawings were missing parts of the face like eyebrows, nose, mouth.

We then used a viewing window to look closely at each part of our partner’s face. After we observed carefully, we noticed how much our drawing skills had grown!

We also had an exciting visit from the museum of Rural Life. We had the chance to ask a farmer lots of questions about the growth of the animals on the farm.  We loved learning all about the new baby animals that are arriving in spring!
