More fun at Rouken Glen

We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed a day of learning in the sunshine!

We met our park ranger for the day, Katy who took us to the park’s Wildlife Garden for some fun activities.

First, we looked for various natural materials in the garden including smooth leaves, something blue and even an insect! Katy helped us look around the garden just like a treasure hunt!

We then got to create our own smelly potions using materials found in the garden!

“I’m making a frog spawn potion. I put grass in it, smell it!'” Arthur

We loved playing the fun games at the end of our session with Katy.

We enjoyed our lunch in the sunshine and then even got to have some fun in the play park before heading back to school!

Thank you so much to Katy and the staff at Rouken Glen for a fantastic day!

Treasure Hunt in our Outdoor Classroom

Primary 1 enjoyed outdoor learning day this week, where we went on an adventure in our outdoor classroom.

First we went on a treasure hunt, using binoculars and magnifying glasses to investigate our environment.

We then used our imaginations to create our own treasure maps of the playground!

‘We found house points at the end of our map!’ Jack

‘I found a clue!’ Cara

‘We’ve found the treasure!’ Finlay

‘We need to go through the river and that’s the castle right here’ Elliot

‘We need to go through pyramid town and then into the pyramid castle! Look house tokens!’ Rory

World Book Day 2019

Primary 1 had an amazing time celebrating World Book Day on Thursday. We came to school in our pjs and brought in our favourite bedtime story!

After break, Primary 7 came down to share a story with us and complete a range of fun activities linked to the stories!

We were also lucky enough to have Primary 4 come and share some stories that they had been writing!

Thank you to everyone who made our World Book Day one to remember!

More Book Week Fun!

To celebrate Book Week, Primary 1 invited some special guests in on Thursday to read with us. We explored the exciting Bookbug Bags and our visitors read some of the stories with us.

‘I like Eric Makes a Splash because it is about friends who help each other’ Freya

‘My favourite is One Button Benny because of his big red button!’ Arthur.

Thank you to all of the grown ups that joined us for reading on Thursday. Over the next few weeks, we will choose our favourite story and vote for it to win the Bookbug Picture Book Prize!

Book Week Library Trip

Primary 1 had the opportunity to visit Eaglesham Library for Book Week Scotland.

When we got to the library, Mr Keenan read us three amazing stories. Our favourite was ‘Eric Makes a Splash’ and luckily this is one of the stories in our Book Bug Bags!

‘Look at my bag!’

We collected our Book Bug Bags and are so excited to read all of the stories at home with our families!

This week in Primary One we have been reading ‘I am Bat’ by Morag Hood.  This story is one of three which we will be read by learners in each class in the build up to National Book Week Scotland.

We worked hard in our reading and writing  – feel free to ask readers in P1.3 for a summary of the story!

Flying and fluttering, darting and zooming – we were lightening quick bats with our wings outstretched…

Lots of fun was had as we struck our most menacing bat pose…

We can not wait for our next book, and our next adventure!
