Coding in P1

This week, Primary 1 were learning about position and movement in our numeracy work. We had a chance to code our own Bee-Bots, giving them directions on a map!

‘If I press this button it will move forwards!’ Cara.

‘I am directing my Bee-Bot to the shops’ Chloe.

Later in the week, we created our own maps for the Bee-Bots.

‘My Bee-Bot is following the track!’ Hannah.

We have loved using the Bee-Bots to help us learn about directions and position!

More Book Week Fun!

To celebrate Book Week, Primary 1 invited some special guests in on Thursday to read with us. We explored the exciting Bookbug Bags and our visitors read some of the stories with us.

‘I like Eric Makes a Splash because it is about friends who help each other’ Freya

‘My favourite is One Button Benny because of his big red button!’ Arthur.

Thank you to all of the grown ups that joined us for reading on Thursday. Over the next few weeks, we will choose our favourite story and vote for it to win the Bookbug Picture Book Prize!

Book Week Library Trip

Primary 1 had the opportunity to visit Eaglesham Library for Book Week Scotland.

When we got to the library, Mr Keenan read us three amazing stories. Our favourite was ‘Eric Makes a Splash’ and luckily this is one of the stories in our Book Bug Bags!

‘Look at my bag!’

We collected our Book Bug Bags and are so excited to read all of the stories at home with our families!

Try a Sport Week

Primary 1 have enjoyed having a go at some new sports this week. We had Mearns Castle Golf Academy come and show us some golf skills including putting and hitting the ball at a target!

“I want to hit the big target” Nathan

On Thursday, we got to try out rugby. We used a rugby ball in our games to learn how to hold the ball correctly, it was so much fun!

Thank you for a fun week of sports!

Pumpkins in P1

Primary 1 have been hard at work this week investigating pumpkins. We read the story ‘Pumpkin Soup’ which inspired us to make our own! We measured out the ingredients that we needed for the soup as well as scooping out the pumpkin seeds to roast!

‘It is very slimy on my hands’ Rowan.

We ate the pumpkin seeds as a snack and they were very tasty!

We put all of the ingredients into the pot and Miss Reynolds helped us cook the soup on the stove. We got to help with the stirring!

‘It is bubbling!’ Sophie.

We even got to taste our soup once it was ready!

‘This is really tasty!’ Abbey.

‘I really like the taste’ Musa.

Judo in P1

This week, Primary 1 got the chance to try out some judo with the help of Jack from Pro Judo. We played some fun creative movement games and we were learning how to do a hold down.

We can’t wait for the next Judo session with Jack!

Primary 1.

“Everybody got to meet my Judo teacher!” Matilda
