Eva’s chickens
Eva brought in photos of her new chickens that she adopted at the weekend, she re-homed these chickens so they would not be killed. What an amazing thing to do Eva!
More fun at Rouken Glen
We were lucky with the weather and enjoyed a day of learning in the sunshine!
We met our park ranger for the day, Katy who took us to the park’s Wildlife Garden for some fun activities.
First, we looked for various natural materials in the garden including smooth leaves, something blue and even an insect! Katy helped us look around the garden just like a treasure hunt!
We then got to create our own smelly potions using materials found in the garden!
“I’m making a frog spawn potion. I put grass in it, smell it!'” Arthur
We loved playing the fun games at the end of our session with Katy.
We enjoyed our lunch in the sunshine and then even got to have some fun in the play park before heading back to school!
Thank you so much to Katy and the staff at Rouken Glen for a fantastic day!
Rouken Glen
We visited Rouken Glen yesterday. We played in the swing park, had our lunch and then met the park ranger, Katy to complete some activities in the wildlife garden.
“It was great! I liked splashing in the puddles.” Lorcan
“I thought it was super because I liked sitting on the slide.” Walker
“I loved the potions!” Rory
“I liked the garden because it was like my own fairy garden. It was nice and colourful. Katy helped us out and she did lot’s of games and my favourite was the potions.” Jessica
A garden in the classroom.
We have been exploring compost in our water tray.
“Look at my compost castle. This is how you make it. You get one of these then you fill it up with a spade then you pat it down and make sure it won’t just crumble out then you tip it out.
We’re going on a bug hunt!
Primary 1.2 and Primary 1.3 had the exciting opportunity to work with Primary 6 on a bug hunt around the school grounds. What a beautiful day it was! We weren’t scared by all the weird and wonderful creatures we discovered.
Bird’s Nest
Angus brought in this amazing bird’s nest today. He found it in his garden as they were cutting down trees. We were amazed at how such a small little creature could make this structure. Angus even brought in a piece of bone, although we weren’t sure what animal it was from. Callen thought it could be a beak but Geli thought it looked like a dinosaur tooth.
Thank you for bring this in to show us Angus!
Treasure Hunt in our Outdoor Classroom
Primary 1 enjoyed outdoor learning day this week, where we went on an adventure in our outdoor classroom.
First we went on a treasure hunt, using binoculars and magnifying glasses to investigate our environment.
We then used our imaginations to create our own treasure maps of the playground!
‘We found house points at the end of our map!’ Jack
‘I found a clue!’ Cara
‘We’ve found the treasure!’ Finlay
‘We need to go through the river and that’s the castle right here’ Elliot
‘We need to go through pyramid town and then into the pyramid castle! Look house tokens!’ Rory
Wedding celebrations
Eva brought in her beautiful outfit that she wore to a wedding in India. We enjoyed hearing her stories from her trip. Thank you for sharing this with us Eva.
Measurement in Primary 1
This week, primary 1 have been focusing on measurement in numeracy. We used a variety of non-standard units to measure the length of objects in our classrooms.
We also used rulers and metre sticks to measure in cm and m.
We measured each other on our height chart and placed dinosaurs in order of height from tallest to smallest!
