The S2 course structure:
Investment – Pupils are introduced to the concept of saving and investing. Pupils will participate in a virtual Investment task requiring them to track share prices and develop an understanding of factors which may cause investment to gain and lose value.
Budgeting – The topic encourages pupils to consider personal budgets. They will participate in a planning task which requires them to consider cost implications and make adjustments to decisions based on changing circumstances.
Marketing – Pupils are introduced to the concept of marketing. This topic involves pupils in working as a part of a team to create a product to meet a ‘client brief’ for a new cereal. From initial concepts through to packaging design, promotional methods and pricing pupils will be expected to demonstrate commercial awareness of the needs and wants of their ‘target market’. This topic is supported by the skills they develop in using Multimedia packages to promote their product.
Multimedia (Flash ) – Through a collection of paper based tutorials and video clips, pupils develop skills in using Flash (animation package) .
Database – pupils create, search and sort information using Microsoft Access software.
Web Design – pupils will be introduced to html coding , to create web pages.
