{"id":755,"date":"2019-04-15T09:42:34","date_gmt":"2019-04-15T09:42:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/kirkhill20b\/?p=755"},"modified":"2019-04-15T13:17:55","modified_gmt":"2019-04-15T13:17:55","slug":"p5-p7-homework-from-monday-15-april-friday-26-april","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/er\/kirkhill20b\/2019\/04\/15\/p5-p7-homework-from-monday-15-april-friday-26-april\/","title":{"rendered":"P5-P7 Homework from Monday 15 April \u2013 Friday 26 April"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em><strong>Food and Drink Federation<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0(<em><strong>FDF<\/strong><\/em>) Scotland are delighted to work with\u00a0Brakes Scotland to launch the <strong>2019 Braw Lunch Brake Challenge<\/strong> with partners, Royal\u00a0Highland\u00a0Education\u00a0Trust, ASSIST FM, Education Scotland, Skills Development Scotland and Developing Young Workforce.<\/p>\n<p>This competition is open to all\u00a0P5, 6 and 7 pupils across Scotland.\u00a0 FDF are looking for the industry stars of the future.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>Your Task<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>We would like pupils to develop an innovative, healthy dish that includes local Scottish produce that would appeal to them and their fellow pupils?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>The winning entrant from each stage will then be asked to prepare their healthy dish and serve it to the Leadership Team on Wednesday 8 May 2019.\u00a0 The winning dish will then be submitted to the national competition.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why are we participating in this competition?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>By participating in this activity food education in school will be enhanced through:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Encouraging greater understanding of the food chain from field to fork and sea to plate<\/li>\n<li>Supporting educated food choices<\/li>\n<li>Developing an understanding of the real world of work and how businesses operate and the skills required by employers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And it may spark an interest for their future career.<\/p>\n<p>For further information, please click on the link below<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.fdfscotland.org.uk\/sfdf\/the-braw-lunch-brake-challenge.aspx\">http:\/\/www.fdfscotland.org.uk\/sfdf\/the-braw-lunch-brake-challenge.aspx<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>What happens once the winning entry from Kirkhill Primary has been decided?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday 10th May<\/strong><br \/>\nInitial dish ideas from each team\/school to be submitted. A team of judges from the partner organisations will then select \u2018the best 6\u2019 healthy dish ideas to go onto a grand final at City of Glasgow College.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday 17th May<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Schools will be contacted no later than Friday 17th May on whether they have made the final.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday 6th June 2019<\/strong><br \/>\nIt\u2019s finals day!
