Book of the Week: Fractions in Disguise
This week in honour of our book we made a structure to display fractions with Kapla. Some groups made a gallery, cafe, pizza shop, museum, maze and bakery. – L

I played snakes and ladders with fractions. You had to solve the fraction cards and make up the mystery word. – F
Mondrian Inspired Art
We used the place value blocks for hundreds, tens and units. We traced around them to create an art piece. For example if you traced around 2 100 blocks, 1 ten block and 3 units blocks then it would illustrate 213. – S
Piet Mondrian was a Dutch artist who created a new art style that uses primary colours and black and white shades. He used lots of geometric shapes, such as squares and rectangles. – H
Inspired by Piet Mondrian we made an art piece where we used different place value blocks. We drew around them to show a number then coloured each shape a different colour. Then we walked around the class to work out the mystery number of each piece of art. – R
