Mr Atkinson’s comment:
Some old jotters, folders, books and worksheets have been sent home today and can be kept at home except for the writing jotters which will be given to next years primary 6 teachers. I hope you enjoy looking through all of this and have the opportunity to discuss with your child all the wonderful primary 5 experiences and accomplishments they have achieved.
Literacy and English
The class had a fantastic time using a range of materials including tinfoil, string and tape in their active spelling tasks. They were also very eager to share with their peers what words they had successfully spelled and see what creative designs their friends had used.
With the Euros and Olympics coming up and because we have been learning about these major sporting events, Mr Atkinson challenged us to write about being an athlete participating in one of these competitions. As this was a final writing piece for the year we were encouraged to apply all of the skills from our handwriting, grammar and spelling lessons as well as be creative when structuring our plot.

Numeracy and Maths
Everyone has been using their Growth Mindsets and putting a lot of effort into our Maths work this week! Some of us have learned how to read scales by counting the intervals, solve a variety of calculations involving decimals which was initially tricky, use timetables to determine durations and departure times and make links between dividing and multiplying by 2 with the help of using concrete materials and pictures.
Health and Wellbeing
In P.E we finished our Athletics lesson series by participating in different activities that athletes might take part in the Paris 2024 Olympics such as the triple jump which we learned the technique for.
