This week, we have been exploring the effects of friction on how far something can move.<\/p>\n

We measured how far paper “Dragon Racers” moved on different surfaces when we moved them with air. Most groups discovered that the more bumpy or textured a surface is, the more friction is caused and the Dragon Racer moved a shorter distance.<\/p>\n

“Surprisingly, my team got 790cm on the carpet” HA<\/p>\n

“Our Dragon Racer went a lot further on the table top because it has a flat surface” LR<\/p>\n

“I didn’t think it would go that far on the aluminium foil.” AM<\/p>\n

“We placed the Dragon Racer upwards so it would go further than facing downwards.” IR<\/p>\n

“I made a prediction about one of the surfaces and in the end my prediction was right.” SS<\/p>\n

“I thought the dragon wouldn’t go far on the rug but it did.” IM<\/p>\n

“I was very surprised about two of the surfaces.\u00a0 the rug only went 25cm and the textbook was the furthest.” FS<\/p>\n
