Mr Atkinson’s comment:
It has been a brilliant final two weeks of term! Primary 5 pupils eagerly participated in the Pop UK project and the primary 6 pupils had a great time at the P1 Teddy Bear Picnic with their buddies. Some of the class also got to enjoy going on the winning house trip and most children have had the opportunity to meet their new teachers!
I will be sending home some jotters, folders and worksheets which can be kept and the remaining work will be given to your child’s new teacher as part of our transition process.
I would like to express my thanks to all the parents and guardians of P5/6 for your support this year. I also very much appreciate the kind messages I have received. It has been a great year and I am very proud of what the pupils have accomplished, some of which have been shared in these blogs.
I hope everyone has a wonderful and enjoyable summer holidays!

Literacy and English
Sara – For our final writing lesson we created acrostic summer themed poems using alliteration, metaphors, similes and rhyming.
Chloe – We also wrote letters to our new teachers about our interests, hobbies, likes, dislikes and what we are most looking forward to next year. Mr Atkinson is going to give these to the teachers for them to read.
Numeracy and Maths
Maya and John – The primary 6 pupils has been learning how to convert fractions into decimals and decimals into fractions. We have also been dividing numbers with decimals by 10 and 100.
Kyler – My group has been learning how to use calendars and timetables which will help us in real life. We have also been revising how to record the times of analogue and digital clocks in the word format.
Health and Wellbeing
Mehr – We had the opportunity to teach our friends the games/sports we had created instructions for in one of our previous writing lessons. We all had so much fun taking part!

IDL – Natural Disasters
Alfie – We have been learning about hurricanes and tornadoes which inspired us to create our very own by using a selection of colours to emphasise the detail, different lines and shading.
Sophie – In the final week of term we built volcanoes in groups. First we had to make a papier mâché mixture. We then placed this around plastic bottles, waited for them to dry and then painted them. The next day we took them outside and tried exploding them with Coke and Mentos!

Outdoor Learning
Aarohi – Our efforts with growing plants, fruits and vegetables in the courtyard and helping to maintain the Pocket Garden in this heat as well as learning about nature resulted in us achieving our John Muir award!

Clyde in the Classroom
Ruairidh – The song and lyrics we created for our Clyde in the Classroom competition entry was showcased in their end of project newsletter!
