Mr Atkinson’s comment:
I hope everyone has a wonderful Easter break and I look forward to hearing all your stories when you return!
Literacy and English
Ruairidh – This week the primary 6 pupils delivered their Solo-Talks to the class. It was very interesting listening about all the different topics and when we return from the holiday the primary 5 pupils will then present their Solo-Talks.
Finlay – We have been continuing to read our group novels and our focus was on clarifying unfamiliar words. We achieved this by using different strategies to help with determining what word means, then we checked their definitions in a dictionary and finally we wrote a similar word to our new word that we had just learned in our jotters.

Numeracy and Maths
John – We have been learning how to use estimating and rounding to help with solving challenging addition and subtraction questions. However, we also assessed the usefulness of estimating and decided that although estimating can make calculations easier to solve, this method can be inaccurate and unhelpful with real life examples such as building.
Tia – This week my group learned about Complementary and Supplementary angles and how to find out the missing angle. We also explored how degrees are linked with directions and we then solved map questions that involved applying all of our knowledge to reach a destination.
Health and Wellbeing
Kate – For Rights Respecting Week we all took part in a competition to design a new logo related to the UNCRC.
Sara – In groups we chose from one of the UNCRC articles and then created presentations based on our chosen article. We then shared the information that we had researched with the rest of the class.
Chloe – During our Substance Misuse lessons we learned about how our vision and other senses can be negatively affected.

Technology
Aarohi and Retal – This week we programmed our Microbits to become compasses and thermometers. We also created fading heart animations and sent messages to each through the devices.
