Mr Atkinson’s comment:
The pupils worked incredibly hard this week to plan, create and record a video entry for a Clyde in the Classroom competition! We also said goodbye to Miss Ross who has finished her placement with us. On behalf of the class and myself I would like to wish her all the best! The class organised a farewell party for Miss Ross by designing banners, decorating her chair, signed cards for her and enjoyed watching a Clyde in the Classroom/Titanic inspired movie!

Literacy and English
Ruairidh – This week we added the problem and challenge that our characters would have to overcome in our imaginative writing pieces. We had to carefully think about how this issue would impact the plot and how our characters would respond to the new situation. We have also continued to use descriptive vocabulary and speech marks.
Numeracy and Maths
Tia – My group has been exploring how to calculate the area and perimeter of shapes. We learned that to determine the area we had to use the formula l x b and to add up all the sides when finding the perimeter. Once we were confident with this we then drew our own robots and recorded their area and perimeter! We also have been drawing shapes with particular areas and perimeters.
Kate and Maya- This week the primary 6 pupils finished their number topic by applying a range of mental maths strategies such as rounding to the nearest 10 or 100 to make the numbers easier to add together. We were also challenged to solve more tricky word problems involving addition and subtraction.
Health and Wellbeing
John – With Miss Hutchison we played Netball matches and were encouraged to use our skills that we have been working on the last few weeks.
Kyler – In P.E. with Miss Ross we were introduced to different types of cultural dancing such as Bollywood and Ceilidh dancing! We all tried having a go at copying the routines.
Alfie – In groups we researched and presented on either the nutritional needs of different age groups or festival foods from other cultures.

Spanish
Aarohi and Chloe – In Spanish with Miss Hutchison we learned how to say the different types of weather. We also played a game whereby we had to act out what was said in Spanish!
Clyde in the Classroom
Harley – We researched and took note of how to keep rivers clean for our Clyde in the Classroom video entry. We discovered that by putting litter in bins, stopping pollution and reducing our use of plastic that these will improve habitats for fish. Afterwards we used our new knowledge by creating a script for our video and acted out our parts.

Expressive Arts
Sophie – We have been learning about realism in Art and how to create this. We looked at different types of landscapes and then used tone and shading to create darker and lighter areas in our drawings.
Aarohi – After learning about what Pop Art was with Miss Ross we were inspired to create our own using our prior skills of line, pattern design and colour.
