Mr Atkinson’s comment:
P5/6 has had a very busy week! On Monday they cleared and emptied the planters in the courtyard and planted a range of flower bulbs. Again thank you for donating pots and seeds/bulbs to help us with this project. I’m also delighted to announce that all the excellent effort done in class with the Fairtrade topic has resulted in the school being awarded the FairAware Award!
Literacy and English
Leo – In our groups we have been drawing the main events that have occurred in our recent chapter and then illustrated our predictions based on the information we currently know. We’ll look back at these next week to see how accurate we were!
Eva – In our second imaginative writing lesson we continued our story from last week by writing our next paragraph. This paragraph focused on introducing our characters by explaining their personality and appearance We achieved this by including more similes, metaphors, adjectives and speech marks.
Kyler – Our comprehension this week focused on exploring characters which linked with our writing lesson.
Numeracy and Maths
Isla and Chloe – In one of our Maths lessons we were challenged to sequence numbers in both the digit and word format as well as describe their relationship by using the symbols greater than, less than and equal to.
Sophie – The primary 6 pupils have be working on adding several 3-4 digit numbers which made our calculations more challenging.
Health and Wellbeing
Harley – For P.E. on Monday we started creating new dance routines collaboratively. We had to come up with a sequence of moves for 8 beats.
Finlay – With Miss Hutchison we continued to develop our chest, bounce and overhead passes in Netball.
Outdoor Learning
Sara – During our outdoor learning session we tidied the courtyard and cleared all the planters by removing the dead leaves. Afterwards we planted different types of flower bulbs in the planters which we are excited to watch grow!
Spanish
Zainab – In Spanish with Miss Hutchison we learned how to say the days of the week and different months.
IDL – Fairtrade
Kate – At both assemblies some of us spoke about what we have learned during our Fairtrade topic this term for Fairtrade Fortnight!
Maya – As we have now finished our Fairtrade topic we went back to our KWL sheet and updated with by summarising what we have learned. Another activity we did in our final lesson was listing what we thought were the important methods of how to raise awareness of Fairtrade.
Lewis – We also took part in a challenge about cotton! We had to produce ‘cotton t-shirts’ using a certain amount of materials but as time went on Miss Ross gave us scenarios which changed how many and how quickly we could make them. This was to show us how real life issues can impact producers of these materials.
