Marvellous May so far! Experiments, Instructions and an Ice Cream party!

Welcome back to P2b’s blog!

We are well and truly into the last term now and have had a busy few weeks! Just a little reminder that Woodland is on a Monday afternoon- please send your child in with waterproofs if you can 🙂

Literacy

We have now learned some more diagraph sounds!

ue, u_e and ew and aw and au!

We have been writing instructions, thinking about ordering steps and using verbs!

We have been enjoying our reading buddy time in the afternoons- even in some strange places!

We have been looking for the key words in texts to answer comprehension questions!

Numeracy

We have continued to look at money, thinking about making amounts up to 50p using different coins!

We have been thinking about tens and units, making and splitting numbers within 100.

Science

From our plants topic, we started to wonder where the rain comes from!

We have now been looking at the different types of clouds and the water cycle!

We did an experiment to show how the clouds become saturated with water and then burst to make rain!

We learned about the 4 parts of The Water Cycle, ordered these and then drew pictures to match!

Our broad bean plants are so tall now! We have been taking good care of them. We also learned how to repot plants with new soil and gave our Aloe Vera plants a new lease of life!

I will send the broad bean plants home next week.

Ice Cream party!

After working very hard to earn house tokens, we have managed to fill up our reward jar again!

We had a vote and the winner was an ice cream party!

On Friday we began with a vote for our favourite ice cream. Our comprehension was about ice cream and then in the afternoon we even got to have some real ice cream as a treat!

Whilst we were eating our ice cream, we designed our own ice cream cones with funny flavours, names and prices.

And all the rest!

Caleb shared his very interesting Princess Diana commemorative coin.

We are allowed back in the gym hall! We started a new gymnastics block in PE and were learning how to stretch and make shapes with our bodies.
