They no longer refer to it as the \u2018Five Step\u2019 approach but there are still five steps.<\/p>\n<p>These 5 steps are:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Identify the hazards<\/li>\n<li>Decide who might be harmed and how<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate the risks and decide on precautions<\/li>\n<li>Record your findings and implement them<\/li>\n<li>Review your assessment and update if necessary<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>A blank form is available here for you to print off and make your own risk assessments which you can download here\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sserc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/08\/Risk-assessment-template.docx\">Risk assessment template<\/a>. Another version, designed to encourage users to think about how they will communicate findings, is available\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sserc.org.uk\/risk-assessment-recording-form\/\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Here is an example from the HSE website of a risk assessment for a dry-cleaners using this format. It isn\u2019t a school but there are chemicals and people in close proximity so it is a valid exemplar.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.hse.gov.uk\/risk\/casestudies\/pdf\/drycleaners.pdf\">Dry-Cleaner Risk Assessment<\/a><\/p>\n<h3 class=\"fusion-responsive-typography-calculated\" data-fontsize=\"20\" data-lineheight=\"28.2px\">Dynamic risk assessment<\/h3>\n<p>It is important to not that a risk assessment is not a piece of paper. Nor it is something frozen in time. There will be occasions where you have to adapt what you are doing \u2018on the hoof\u2019 as circumstances change.
