Uplawmoor Primary School is a Rights Respecting School and as part of this the children learn about a different right each month. Primary 1 to 3 have been learning all about the right to an identity. We played games in the hall, played guess who with different characters, drew portraits of each other in pairs and logged onto to the Child’s Rights Launchpad.
We are really enjoying our class novel at the moment and one of the things that the children wanted to investigate was how birds build nests. We decided to go into the playground to try it for ourselves. Once out there the children decided to build a nest big enough for the whole class. We had to gather all sorts of different materials that the children thought would be suitable and work as a team to complete the job. Good job Primary 1. I think Plop would like it!

Primary 1 have been learning how important a healthy diet is and what that looks like. They had asked to make tomato soup and so we did. It was delicious and we invited Primary 2 in to sample our cooking!
Primary 1 and Primary 7 took part in some paired reading recently. Primary 7 selected a book and designed a follow up activity for themselves and their partner to take part in. Some children read the Gruffulo and had their buddies retell the story using plastic animals whilst others enjoyed Aliens love Panta Claus and made play dough aliens. Primary 1 really enjoyed the event and discovered some new books as a result.
