Literacy

Our new class novel is ‘The Hodgeheg’.

We have been learning to identify and use adjectives to describe characters, and use adjectives and alliteration to describe settings.
We have also been learning to identify the main events in the story.

Outdoor Learning

After researching some facts about hedgehogs and what their habitat is like, we decided to use natural materials found in our school grounds to make a hedgehog house.  We worked in teams to collect materials like sticks and leaves, and then worked together to build the habitat.

Art

In art we have been learning about different pop artists. We have used our knowledge of complementary colours to make our art work ‘pop’. So far we have found out about Andy Warhol and created some hedgehog art inspired by him. We have also found out about Keith Harring and created some artwork inspired by his cartoon style.

Social Studies

In social studies, we have each chosen a person from the past that we wanted to know more about. We researched some facts about them and learned what they did that was inspirational. At the computer suite we created a PowerPoint to display the information we found out.
