Outdoor Learning
This term we are working towards our RSPB bronze award for exploring and helping nature. So far we have completed a mini beast safari to find mini beasts in our school grounds:
We also completed the Big Schools Birdwatch and then joined a live meeting to find out more about it.
In literacy, our new class novel is ‘The Bog Baby’.
We have been consolidating our sequencing skills by putting events in a logical order.
In writing, we have been learning to describe events and characters feelings. After lots of discussion, we described the events from Bog Babies point of view and included how we thought Bog baby would have felt at each part.
Then we created our own little Bog babies using modelling clay. We then used adjectives to describe their appearance:
Here are all our Bog babies hanging out at Bluebell Wood pond:
Science – food chains
We have started our food chains topic by exploring plants and animals in Antarctica. We watched frozen planet 2 to help us discover what animals live there and find out who eats who.
After that, we were ready to start building some food chains. We are learning some new vocabulary like producer, consumer, predator and prey. A food chain always starts with a plant (producer). The arrow shows the flow of energy from one thing to another.
