P4 have been thoroughly enjoying taking part in our Daily Mile. The children have loved getting outside each day to increase their step count, stay active and burn off some energy. It has been a great opportunity to enjoy some fresh air while improving our fitness and wellbeing. 🚶‍♀️🚶‍♂️

P4 have enjoyed making a start on our new Glasgow topic. The children have been learning all about Glasgow by watching informative videos, reading books and carrying out their own research, particularly focusing on transport and different areas in the city. They also explored how Glasgow has changed over time by looking at photographs from the past and matching them to present-day landmarks and locations. The class has shown great curiosity and enthusiasm, and we are looking forward to discovering even more about our local city in the weeks ahead. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🚇

Our Easter egg decorating morning was a huge success! All of the children did extremely well to bring in the resources they needed to create their eggcellent egg characters. P4 showed fantastic imagination and creativity as they transformed their eggs into a wide variety of colourful and unique designs. It was wonderful to see the effort, enthusiasm and attention to detail that went into each creation, as well as the high standard of work produced by everyone. Well done P4! 🎨🖌️🐣🥚🥚

To celebrate finishing our class novel ‘Ottoline and the Yellow Cat’, the children worked in pairs to create fantastic story cubes. Each cube included the author and illustrator, the title of the novel, the setting, and a summary drawing of the beginning, middle and end of the story. The pupils worked collaboratively to share their ideas and demonstrate their understanding of the text. Their finished story cubes were incredibly detailed, colourful and creative! 🎨📖

The Hexagons and Octagons worked incredibly hard as they tackled some challenging calculations involving the conversion of measurement units. The children converted between centimetres, metres and millimetres, applying their knowledge to solve a range of tricky problems. I was so impressed by their determination, resilience and growing understanding of how different units of measurement are connected. Well done P4! 🧮📏

P4 had a fantastic Red Nose Day, coming to school dressed in red and taking part in a variety of fun activities throughout the day. The children showed great enthusiasm and kindness as they learned about the importance of helping others while raising money for a wonderful cause. We are very proud of their efforts and would like to thank all families for their generous support in making the day such a success. ❤️

In Term 2, we loved taking our learning outdoors. The children have enjoyed riding their bikes and scooters to school, helping them stay active while building confidence and independence. Outdoor learning has given the class opportunities to explore, work together, and enjoy learning in the fresh air. It has been wonderful to see such enthusiasm and teamwork from everyone.  🚴‍♂️🚵

Primary 4 started their new topic of term 2 – The Vikings.

We have explored Viking clothing and learned about the different materials Vikings used to make their clothes. We discovered how wool, linen, and animal skins were used to keep people warm, comfortable, and ready for work or battle. It was fascinating to see how practical and creative Viking clothing was, and it helped us understand more about their daily lives and culture. 🛡️🧵👕

We had a fantastic time learning about Viking life by building our own Viking longships and longhouses. We constructed models of the longships, thinking carefully about how Vikings would have sailed across seas and rivers. We also designed longhouses, learning how Vikings lived, cooked, and slept in these special buildings. Everyone worked hard to make their creations detailed while showing what they had learned about Viking history. It was a fun and creative way to bring the Viking world to life! ⚓🏠

Primary 4 have started their six-week block of swimming lessons at The Foundry. The class did a fantastic job on the walk from school to the swimming pool and made a great first impression during their first lesson. Everyone showed respect for the pool, the rules, and the staff while listening carefully to their instructors. The swimming instructors even told Miss Taylor how well behaved Primary 4 were, which made us all very proud. We are looking forward to improving our swimming skills over the next few weeks! 🏊‍♂️👏

On World Book Day we had the pleasure of listening to Anna read a book she had brought in to share with the class. Everyone enjoyed listening to the story and discussing it together afterwards. We also talked about the importance of World Book Day and how reading helps us learn new things, use our imagination, and discover exciting stories. It was a lovely way to celebrate books and share our love of reading as a class. 📚✨
