Welcome back from September weekend!

Welcome back Primary 4!

I hope you all had a lovely September weekend and enjoyed some time to rest and recharge. We have been working hard in Maths, Literacy, ICT and IDL, building our skills and exploring new ideas. The children have shown great enthusiasm and determination within their work.

Math and Numeracy ✏️

P4 we have been busy working on our maths skills! We went on scavenger hunts to practise place value, number properties, and number processes. We have also been challenging ourselves by starting multiplication calculations using our upstairs and downstairs method. The class has been working hard and showing great determination! Maths made fun 📚

Literacy and Novel 📖

In Literacy, we have been enjoying our class novel The Legend of Spud Murphy and have now finished all five chapters. The children worked in groups to create posters, showing great teamwork, communication and listening skills as they retold the events of the story.

During our writing sessions, we have been watching short video clips and then using them to inspire our own writing. We have focused on character description, comparing Miss Honey and Miss Trunchbull, and the children produced some fantastic pieces full of detail and imagination.

ICT 💻

In ICT, the children have been practising their typing skills using Dance Mat Typing, helping them to become more confident and accurate on the keyboard. They have also been developing their research skills by using Google and search engines to find out interesting facts and record the answers on their worksheets.

IDL – Human Body Topic! 🧠🫁🫀

We have been learning all about the human body. P4 have been creating their own life-size skeletons and exploring the digestive system, the brain, the heart, the lungs, and the respiratory system. We have been busy labelling diagrams, writing short paragraphs, colouring and creating art and quizzing ourselves to help us understand how the body works. We also carried out a fun experiment to see how the digestive system works, which helped bring our learning to life!

I have been so impressed with the effort, enthusiasm, kindness and hard work Primary 4 have put into their work and class ethos! Keep up the good work Primary 4 💕 Miss Taylor
