School Trip to Vikingar ⚔️☀️

Primary 4 had an exciting trip to Vikingar in Largs as part of our learning about the turbulent period of Viking invasions and settlements in Scotland’s history.

We began the day with an interactive dress-up session, where we discovered the different roles within Viking society, including wealthy families, farmers and poorer people. This helped us understand that not all Vikings lived the same way.

Next, we visited the education room to learn where the Vikings fit into Scotland’s historical timeline before stepping inside a replica Viking longhouse. Here, we explored what everyday life was like, discovering what Vikings ate and drank, how they kept warm, and the objects they used in their homes. We even had the chance to try on Viking helmets and chainmail, and we were amazed at just how heavy they were!

Our final stop was the Room of the Gods, where we learned about the Viking gods and what they believed each one represented. The dramatic storytelling, combined with an impressive light show, made this one of the highlights of the day.

It was a fantastic experience that brought our history topic to life. The weather was beautiful that day and we were treated to a sunny lunch on the beach and a play by the shore. Amazing memories made together. 🤍☀️✨️

Off to the beach we go!
