Primary 3 were exploring religious artefacts. There was lots of discussion around prayers, clothes and food. One child shared their religious belief and experiences.

We had the best time at our Christmas party 🎄  We played pass the parcel, Christmas corners, musical arms and many more! I think our favourite was showing off our amazing dance moves 🕺

Primary 3 were learning to experience a sense of enjoyment and achievement when preparing healthy foods. They made fruit kebabs and discussed the benefits of eating fruit on a daily basis.

We have been very busy scientists recently. We have been learning about solid, liquid and gas, and how substances can change between each state.
Here we are carrying out an experiment to change solid ice into liquid water using heat energy from our hands. I think the ice was pretty cold!!

We also carried out an experiment to investigate what solid substances (salt, sugar, flour, icing sugar) will dissolve in a liquid. At first, we used cold water only. We then discussed variables we thought would help the dissolving process (heat and stirring):

We are also lucky enough to have the Sports Leaders from Barrhead High School with us on a Friday to lead some tennis sessions:

Primary 3/2 were learning to identify the five main food groups.  There was discussion on healthy eating and the children talked about their favourite foods.  They created an Eatwell plate to display their understanding of the five food groups.

Primary 3/2 have been learning about Diwali.  There was lots of discussion about good vs evil and light defeating darkness.  We talked a lot about feelings, religious celebrations and coloured in Rangoli patterns.

This month an alien spaceship crash landed into our classroom and made quite a mess. Luckily the alien knew how to use word document and left us a note asking for help!

The Alien gave us an idea to write a report about them. We discussed their appearance, hobbies, diet and any special features. We then used all our new report writing skills to write a report about our own aliens.

In numeracy, we are becoming so independent at completing all our targets. Here we are playing problem solving games with our peers:

We have been learning to work as part of a team in a variety of different contexts recently. As always, we have the best time learning outside:

We have settled into our new class in Primary 3. Our Flat Stanley mini topic has linked to lots of our learning so far.

In literacy we have been learning to find information in a text. We have used this skill to answer comprehension questions, complete setting studies and track character emotion.

In writing we are learning to write a report. We are currently coming up with our own news report ideas linked to Flat Stanley.

In numeracy we have been consolidating our knowledge of cm and mm. We drew Flat Stanley and then used a ruler to measure parts of his body.

We are currently learning about the rights and responsibilities  relevant and important to us. We will discuss our ideas and use these to create our class charter. We consolidated our knowledge of  needs and wants  and shared our own with the class.

We have also enjoyed the continuous provisions around our classroom linked to our topic.
